How did the Beast become a Beast, you may have wondered. It was all thanks to a revolting witch called Stinkweed.

When the Merchant arrives at the Beast's mansion, the Beast finds the Merchant’s behaviour rather trying. And when he brings his daughter Beauty (as instructed by the Beast) to the mansion, Beast finds her behaviour very trying too. Who will end up marrying whom?

Four Characters: Beast, Beauty, Merchant (Beauty's father), Stinkweed (a witch).

Playing time: about 20 minutes (depending on production, use of additional songs etc)

 Script Extract:

Beast: He sits right down at my dining-table,

Eats my egg fried rice and prawn chow mein,

With a glass of my very best champagne.

And as my screams I try to stifle,

He demolishes all my strawberry trifle.

When the plates are empty, without a care,

He strides immediately up the stair -

Into the bed, and sets the alarm as

He tumbles into my silk pyjamas.

I fall asleep where I am able,

Stretched out on the kitchen table.
