The Princess and the Frog

Fifteen-minute rhyming pantomime

Songs: two optional songs are suggested.

Available from Lazy Bees Scripts

It's Princess Gwendolen's birthday. But she is not happy because she has no friends. The King and Queen give her a very special birthday present – a golden, bouncing ball. The Princess goes off to play with the ball but it bounces into a pond. A helpful Frog agrees to bring the ball back to her, but only on condition that the Princess invites him to a meal and shares all her food with him. What she doesn't know is that, by doing this, she will free the Frog from a spell.

Will it all end happily? What will the Princess and the Frog think of each other, when the Frog is transformed into a handsome Prince?

The traditional story is given a few twists. Running time: about 15 minutes. Four main characters plus a Narrator and two flunkeys. Extra Frogs can be added.

Seven characters: Princess, King, Queen, Flunkey 1, Flunkey 2, Frog, Narrator

On this, your extra special day!

(Princess Gwendolen sobs very loudly)

Will I never find a friend?

King: My dear, you have everything you need.

An Ipod, an Ipad, a Kindle to read.

Queen: An X-Box, an Android, computer games,

Hundreds of them – I can't remember the names.

King: A plasma television with satellite dish -

Why, whatever else can a girl possibly wish?

Princess: (howls again)Here I sit, completely alone.

No-one to talk to on my smartphone.

Who wants to watch movies on Sky TV

When you're as lonely and sad as me?

Queen: My dear, you mustn't be so miffed.

It's time to open your special gift.
