Cinderella
Full-length pantomime
Playing time: 90 minutes approximately (excluding interval)

Songs: the script includes some suggestions, including some old favourites with new lyrics.
A traditional version of the much-loved story with a few twists and lots of terrible puns (“Philately will get you nowhere.”). The Ugly Sisters are hopelessly indulged by their “Mumsy” while the Baron wants to get away from his family and coach the junior tiddly-winks team. The Prince dislikes his life of undiluted luxury and longs to have a Chinese take-away. His father, the King, is hopelessly absent-minded and wants to spend his time growing roses; he forgets everything including his son's name.
The optional songs include a patriotic one about tea-drinking (to the tune of Land of Hope and Glory) and another about Chinese takeaways.
Cinderella has been performed by many groups in the United Kingdom as well as in Canada, the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, and on a Carnival UK cruise-ship.

Prince: Good morning to you. What a perfect morning for picking wild flowers.
Cinderella: Good morning, sir. (in confusion) I mean, Good morning, Your - Your Highness.
Prince: No, no, I'm not Your Highness. I'm just a common person. This (He indicates Dandini) is Your Highness.
Cinderella: (to Dandini) Are you, Your Highness? You don't look very much like your postage stamps. (to Prince) Are you sure you're not Your Highness?
Prince: No. I'm completely ordinary. I'm called Dandini.
(Dandini looks upset)
Prince: Your Highness was just going to walk to the top of that hill to see if the huntsmen are in sight.
Dandini: Wath I?
Prince: Yeth. You wath.
Dandini: It'th no fun being a Pwinth. (Exit Dandini)
Prince: Do you come to the forest often?
Cinderella: Yes. I came to pick flowers for my step-mother. How about you?
Prince: The Prince and I came here to hunt.
Cinderella: Isn't that rather cruel?
Prince: Not really. The hounds are trained not to hurt the foxes. As soon as they've caught one, they let it go.
Cinderella: How very considerate of them.
Prince:Yes. The foxes enjoy the hunt almost as much as we do.
Cinderella:Is it an exciting life being the Prince's friend?
Prince: It's very dull. Sometimes I wish I could live in a little country cottage and never go to the palace again.
Cinderella: Is it true that you drink champagne all day long?
Prince: (disgusted)Oh, champagne! (wistful)Do you know what I dream of? I dream of having all my meals from a Chinese take-away. Is that completely mad?
Cinderella: Oh, no. I'd love to go to a Chinese take-away.
Prince: You could.....come with me, then? We could share a Prawn Chop Suey or a battered sausage and chips.
Cinderella: (adoringly)Oh, yes.......
